I’m moving to Orlando in August, what are COVID-19 testing sites near my Orlando apartment?

As COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, Florida saw a surge in COVID-19 cases, setting records for most cases in a day. As Florida case count continues to rise, there is no surprise that anyone moving to Orlando should be on a high alert for COVID-19. Luckily, testing sites for the virus are flooding the corners of Orlando like tourists. Here are a couple of testing site options near your Orlando apartment.

Drive-Thru testing

With all the uncertainty that coronavirus has provided, it can be quite challenging to find a starting point for testing. Specific Orlando testing sites only offer testing to those who are exhibiting symptoms, which can make it a little harder to get the concern out of your head. However, the City of Orlando has designated drive-thru testing sites accessible with mobile appointments. According to the official website, linked here, locations rotate every week to ensure there is enough access to free testing. The only thing that is needed to get tested is any identification, ensuring you are over 18 years old, name, and address. Testing is only available on Wednesdays, if weather permits, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check out the website, linked here for more detailed steps on how to book your appointment.

Healthcare, first responders and those with symptoms

Sneezing, coughing, or a fever nowadays can quickly spark a moment of panic. If you are showing signs, it is best to get your worries out of the way and get tested. This testing location is at the Walmart supercenter parking lot near Orlando International Airport. Testing is available Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. However, you will also need an appointment to get tested. This testing site is for self-administered COVID-19 testing in your car. Be sure to bring your mask and any form of identification along with you. The test results are administered through Quest Diagnostics and have an approximate two day wait from when they receive your test.

Additional Testing sites:

The city of Orlando website has also categorized testing sites by counties, showing a testing site map for each one. With so many testing sites to choose from, it may be easier to find the nearest one to your Orlando apartment. For residents of Orange County, there are 13 testing sites listed on the website, linked here, including one at the University of Central Florida. If you live near Osceola county, the county website, linked here, has listed the different places they are testing and hours of operation for each one. Additionally, Osceola county has listed upcoming community testing events without an appointment requirement. The events require masks and to bring a pen. The first one in August will be on the 2nd in Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.

Remember to notify your employer that you will be getting tested for COVID-19, as you may be subject to quarantine until results are ready.
